Boys Basketball District Championship Preview

Mark Rick, Opinion Section Editor

On February 28th the Boys Basketball team played Springfield in the District semi-final. They had a dominant performance and came away with a 64-44 win. With this win the team moves on to the District championship.

The championship is Sunday March 8th at 1pm @ Xavier Univ Cintas Center. They play Lakota East, the other 2 seed in our bracket. It will be a good game. If you are interested in going to the game, but don’t have a ride consider riding the spirit bus. Check our other article “Go Support the Beavers” for more information.

The team has had a very successful season so far. Their record is 19-9 so far and the athletes have worked hard, played team ball, and focused at practice, which has contributed to their successful season. Hopefully the team can keep up its great season.

To prepare for the district championship, the team has been watching game film. Along with this, the team has been developing a game plan to exploit the other team’s weaknesses. They have been putting in work to prepare for this game and hopefully their work will pay off.

Throughout the long season the team has had a lot of special moments. Mr. Nartker says their “win on senior night was special but beating Springfield in the tournament after losing to a last-second shot. It gave us lots of energy that we can hopefully take into the next game.” This momentum should help them in the district championship and will hopefully lead them to a victory.
