I Miss Soccer
April 24, 2020
Mike Dewine issued the stay-at-home order right at the beginning of my spring soccer season. Expectedly, all of my spring soccer season is cancelled. I have played soccer since I was a little kid. It is something that I have always looked forward to and is where I spend a lot of my time.
Losing my spring soccer season has helped me have a better appreciation for it. This quarantine makes me miss the practices that I would sometimes not want to go to, or miss the travel tournaments I didn’t want to travel to.
Although I am very sad to lose my soccer season, it has given me a lot of time to focus on school and get closer with family and friends. It also gave me the time to get a job and earn some money for later in life.
Benjamin Albrecht, a junior at Beavercreek High School and a fellow soccer player, said, “Missing soccer is sad because it’s a core part of my daily life but it’s giving me a chance to get ahead of people who don’t put in the work during break.”
During this quarantine, I will try to train hard so I can be prepared for my next soccer season.
