Last Friday, October 30th Governor Mike Dewine made an announcement. He announced that Ohio hit a record number of cases reported in a single 24-hour period. Mike Dewine said last week in this announcement, “The virus is raging throughout the state, and there is no place to hide, we must face this virus head-on with the tools that we know can beat this virus: masks, social distancing, washing hands frequently, and good ventilation when inside.”

Governor Dewine is calling on county officials to take action and help lower the spread of COVID-19. He wants community leaders to create “COVID Defense Teams.” These teams will consist of a variety of people such as county commissioners, mayors, and local hospital leaders. The teams are supposed to help slow down the spread of COVID-19 by assessing COVID-19 spread in their communities and take steps necessary for their community to slow the spread of COVID-19.
