Helping the Community

The BHS network club is running a hygiene drive this year for a substance recovery center nearby. This has been running for a while; however, due to the strangeness of December, they decided to push the deadline even later into January. Not only is this an amazing opportunity to contribute to the outside community, the class with the most donations also gets Bill’s Donuts!

Now, what can you donate to this awesome cause? Ms. Cron, the network club coordinator states, “Hygiene items such as shampoo, lotions, body wash, bar soap, band aids, foot powder, tooth paste, tooth brushes, women’s feminine products, deodorant, laundry detergent, hair brushes and combs, are all great items to donate!”

All of your donations go to one of two locations, either the Hope Spot Recovery Center or the Women’s Recovery Center. The Hope Spot Recovery Center, Ms. Cron says, “is a place where those who are already on their recovery journey can go to gain support in staying free from drugs while trying to live their lives in our society.” At the Women’s Recovery Center, they provide residential and outpatient services to women recovering from addiction and behavioral health problems.

Not only will you be helping your class win Bill’s Donuts, you will also be able to help “individuals with substance abuse disorders regain their self dignity and self worth by helping with basic self care and hygiene”, according to Ms. Cron. This is something that all students should motivate themselves to participate in, not only for themselves, but for others as well.
