Every year the Super Bowl is anxiously awaited, but not all of the audience is tuned in for the football. With the Super Bowl comes the wacky and wild ads that companies create knowing thousands of people will see them. These ads are crazy and unexpected so they can attract the attention of the audience and make them stand out more than the competitors.
This year there seems to be two distinct kinds of ads that will be showing up during the Super Bowl breaks, pandemic and non-pandemic ads. With the pandemic having affected the lives of millions, companies decided to address it in their ads. Chipotle making its debut in the Super Bowl ad line-up is releasing an ad sharing how Chipotle could change the world. Others like DoorDash are taking advantage of the pandemic and their ad reflects this as well. While there is sure to be more ads based around the pandemic, it seems as though many more of the ads will be more lighthearted like the past commercials.
Some of the ads feature big name celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis in a Cheetos ad. The couple seem to face an issue regarding a bag of Cheetos Crunch Pop Mix, resulting in the appearance of Shaggy singing “It Wasn’t Me.” Another lighthearted commercial features Jason Alexander on a sweatshirt. Throughout the commercial the sweatshirt goes through quite a bit of wear and tear until it is eventually washed with Tide. Other interesting ads are coming from Pringles, Doritos, and the ever exciting M&M’s, known to have wacky ads during the Super Bowl.
If you’re turning in for the ads or the football, make sure to look out for some crazy companies and be prepared to see some references to current events as well.
