Update on Local Basketball Teams

John Rick, Inside BHS Section Editor

With the college basketball season in full swing, we are going to take a look at a few local colleges and see how they are doing this season. We will be looking at the University of Dayton (UD) and Wright State University.

First, we will look at the UD Flyers. The Flyers’ current record is 10-5 with wins on the left and losses on the right. They have a 6-4 conference record and are currently ranked sixth in their conference. Their most recent game was a loss to Duquesne, who are now one game behind them in the conference. In their next game, they will play George Mason, who is ranked tenth in the conference, so hopefully, they can get a win in that one. Next up is the Wright State Raiders basketball team.

In their most recent game, the Raiders beat Robert Morris, who is ranked twelfth or last in the conference. That game put the Raiders and a record of 13-4 overall and an 11-3 conference record. They are currently ranked second in the conference. In first place Cleveland State with a conference record of 12-2 so that puts the Raiders one game behind from first. Unfortunately, the Raiders have already played Cleveland State twice, so in order to take first place in the conference, they need another team to beat Cleveland State. They hope to add to their five-game winning streak on Friday, February 5 as they play UIC Flames.
