BHS Hockey Team On The Rise

Grace Dailey, Student Jouranlist

Your Beavercreek High School men’s hockey team is in the midst of an impressive season. They currently hold a 12 game winning streak and an overall record of 17 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie.

One of their most recent victories was a game on January 9th against their biggest rival: Alter. The beavers walked away with a 5-1 win, which bumped them up to #1 in their league. They even managed to hold Alter’s lead scorer to 0 goals and 0 assists.

The hockey team claims that much of their success is owed to Coach Gutterman’s “gritty, demanding style of playing with all-out hustle and love for the game,” says senior Thomas Busch. It is clear that the team adores and respects him.

The team’s senior class has contributed greatly to their success this season as well, and a few players even have plans to continue playing hockey after high school. Lead scorer and team captain Thomas Busch plans on trying out for Arizona State’s ACHA Division II team next season. Senior goaltender Ben Duford will try out for Ohio State’s ACHA Division II team.

As for the rest of the season, the beavers plan to snag another league championship title and win a state playoff game. Because of the amount of COVID cancellations this season, there is currently no set schedule with game dates. Be sure to reach out to a BHS hockey team member or come out to a game to support the beavers!
