As summer quickly approaches, many of the students at Beavercreek High School will be looking for a summer job. Many different places are hiring, and the recent job fair was a helpful resource in learning which businesses are hiring teenagers. Many students chose to work in retail, food, or in recreation. Lifeguarding is a good option for those looking for an outdoorsy job. However, for people who enjoy staying indoors more, working in retail or food may be a good option. Fast food places are a good place to start because they introduce young people to the service industry and give them experience working. Students have stated that they “enjoy working because it gives me money and a lot of my coworkers are cool.” The money earned while working can be spent on various activities. Getting a summer job can teach students work ethic and how to interact with others in a professional setting.
