This school year has brought myriad enhancements to the operation of BHS. The Yondr pouches are just one example of this school year’s many changes. But are the students of BHS better off than they were a year ago, without the implications of the Yondr pouch? When speaking with students in Study Hall classes, I gathered a survey of people who felt that they had seen significant improvements in their productivity within the classroom. Maggie Malec a Senior at BHS stated, “I feel that I have benefited from not being on my phone at school. There should have been stricter phone policies rather than resorting to the Yondr pouches.” In addition to that, Addison Smith,, a Junior at BH,S, mentioned that “I have not seen much of a change, but I do miss being able to use my AirPods in school.” Emma VanHorn said, “I haven’t seen much of a change either. I also feel that the school should have started with more trust within the students to follow that rule.” Looking at the big picture, the students here at BHS feel that the Yondr pouches have done little to improve their learning process. In the end, the school most likely could have saved a lot of taxpayer money if they implemented a no-phone policy followed by suspension or expulsion consequences.
