On August 22, Beavercreek had its football season opener against Xenia. Ending with a score of 27-18, Xenia came out triumphant. Although the game resulted in a loss for the Beavers, they certainly did not go down without a fight. Lucas Macek, a junior who plays for Beavercreek, stated, “I think the Beavers did well, behind the scenes that game was a lot. The Beavers put up a great fight and proved we could beat them.” It is also mentioned how Beavercreek’s faults were a consequence of the team’s emotions during the game. The interference of emotions led to a holding call, resulting in a loss of a touchdown for the Beavers. When asked what could have been done better, Lucas Macek stated, “What could have been better is our team energy. Once we start to lose, we go quiet.” Along with this, Macek added how the team needed to prepare more for the game against Xenia. Despite the loss, Beavercreek also performed multiple things well. Macek stated, “What was done well is the players overall skill. Everyone did what they needed to and didn’t get held back.” Overall, Beavercreek played very well during last Friday night’s game. Records show that the Beavers haven’t won four out of ten games since 2012, and Lucas states that the team’s goal this year is to beat that record. This Friday, September 5, the Beavers travel away to take on Harrison. Be there and show some support for your school!
