Beaverceek High School has recently been undergoing major reconstruction on the roof of the building. The roof has been in poor condition for months and is starting to cause leaks when it rains. Mrs. Lynch, who works in the office of BHS, stated, “The roof was leaking really, really badly.” The tiles of the ceiling are brown and rotten due to the amount of water that has been draining through the roof. This project was desperately needed to be done due to how disruptive it is to the classroom setting. This includes trash cans being set up throughout the building to prevent puddles from forming when it storms. Now the question is, how long will the roof be under construction for? When Mrs. Lynch was asked how long the estimated time frame was, she responded, “I believe we are hoping for it to be completed by the end of October.” Although this project was seriously needed, students are finding that it interferes with their learning setting. Brooklyne Allen, a junior at Beavercreek High School, stated, “The loud, consistent banging on the roof is the most distracting thing that has to Beavercreek High School.” The construction happening on the roof can be distracting to students during class, due to the loud sounds and rattling of the ceiling above. Hopefully, the construction will end soon, and BHS can return to the normalcy of a quiet classroom setting. Once the project is finished, the roof will look as good as new and not cause rain to enter the building. All the commotion on the roof will be gone before you know it, and the annoying leaks and noise won’t be back.
