As the fall sports season comes to a close, it is the time that all teams have been preparing for: tournaments. Beavercreek is a part of the GWOC conference, along with other schools like Centerville, Springboro, and Miamisburg. The GWOC, which stands for Greater Western Ohio Conference, is the regular-season play. Mr. Bradley Pompos, the director of athletics at Beavercreek High School, stated that Beavercreek’s fall teams placed as expected in GWOC this year: “We finished where we anticipated in each fall sport, give or take a position here or there.” This includes girls’ volleyball placing third out of eight schools, boys’ soccer second, girls’ soccer second, boys’ cross country first, girls’ cross country second, boys’ golf third, girls’ golf fifth, and girls’ tennis second. The football team still has two games left until the final rankings are known. Beavercreek is currently either participating in the tournament or preparing to enter the first rounds of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). Mr. Pompos stated that the annual goal is, “…to try to win the GWOC if we can and/or place high enough to gain positioning for a postseason run in the OHSAA tournament.” Mr. Pompos also shouted out to all the student-athletes participating in the fall sports this year, “The student-athletes have done a great job again this year in the GWOC, a conference which is considered year in and year out one of the top public school leagues in Ohio.” Go out and support your teams while the Beavers charge into the end-of-season tournaments!
