Everyday of the entire year I have the same boring schedule: first period, second period, third period, and so on for 50 minutes each almost everyday. For the first time this year, we had a week and a half of mixed up class orders to compensate for AIR testing. This schedule may have been your worst nightmare or the break you’ve been waiting for depending on your teachers and class order, and for me it was the latter. There are many reasons why I enjoyed the AIR testing schedule and am sad to see it go.

During testing, it was expected that our teachers would give us less work, quizzes, and tests than usual, and all of my teachers seemed to follow this. Many of my classes over the past few weeks turned into temporary study halls in order for students to get work done and focus on AIR testing, and this was greatly appreciated. It also helped that I really enjoy my fourth period as we had that class at least an hour a day and sometimes close to three. With this lighter workload, I was able to have a nice break before taking on the final five weeks of school.

The lighter workload and new schedule that the AIR testing provided was something I enjoyed greatly. For a couple of weeks, I had no obligations to school work and could enjoy my extracurriculars and free time stress-free. Now with five weeks remaining in the school year, all focus is past state tests and on to exams. I realize that everyone was affected differently by the AIR testing schedule; however, for me and many others, the schedule provided an interesting and laid-back seven days of school.
