The Marching Band and Color Guard just finished their final competitions of their 2018-2019, fall season entitled “Mirrorball.” They traveled to William Mason High School and to Welcome Stadium at the University of Dayton. The band ended up scoring 6th place out of 12 at Mason on Saturday. On Sunday, the band had a meeting before they took off for their final performance. Mr. Frost discussed the stripes that the band sticks by. He discussed discipline, citizenship, dedication, focus, and unity. There’s one here left out until the very end, pride. He had announced this: “Pride is something you need to look in the mirror and check.” He believes pride shouldn’t stand in the way of the other stripes, but instead should be because of the other stripes. After his long speech, he gave each section necklaces with grey legos attached with small mirrors symbolizing pride and how to keep it in check. The band took their legos and put their uniforms on, and then they were finally ready to go. Even though that night was raining and cold, the band ended up receiving a superior rating, which is the 29th superior rating they’ve received. They have the longest standing band to have a superior rating at this competition and they’re not looking to stop this streak for a very long time.
