Women’s Soccer Team Heads to State

On November 6th, the Beavercreek women’s soccer team (23-0) played against Bishop Watterson (21-3-4) at Hayward Middle School for a chance at a birth in the the state championship game. After a slow start from both teams, Beavercreek struck first halfway through the first half with a goal from junior Diana Benigno. Before halftime, Beavercreek junior Marcella Cash scored to give the Beavers a two score lead at halftime. The second half was slow as Bishop Watterson struggled on defense and Beavercreek took minimal risks in order to sustain their lead. With around a minute remaining in the game, Bishop Watterson finally scored, however, it was too late as the Beavers rolled onto the state championship game with a 2-1 win over Bishop Watterson. The state championship game will be held at Mapfre Stadium where the Beavercreek Beavers will meet the Strongsville Mustangs in a battle for the state title. The school will have a bus for any students who want to attend the game. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. and has an $8.00 admission fee. Go and support the Beavers as they fight for their state championship trophy!
