Previewing the Boy’s Soccer Season

Previewing the Boy’s Soccer Season

The Beavercreek boys’ varsity soccer team has started off the season undefeated with one tie. The JV soccer team is undefeated with no ties. This Saturday they play Upper Arlington, which is one of the tougher games of the season. Coming off a win vs. Anderson last Saturday, the men should have no problem.

Leading the Varsity team as captains are Jack Towers and Pete Schneider. The captains for the JV team are Aidan Macarthy and Michael Wynn. Do these captains have what it takes to lead the team to success? Towers and Schneider were both a part of the team that won state in the 2016/2017 season. This Varsity team has the experience and skill to make it far in the tournament.

Last year the Varsity team was knocked out by Anderson, but they beat them last Saturday so maybe they have what it takes to go far in the tournament. Ben Albrecht, a junior on the JV squad, said, “Their teamwork, skill, and closely knit bond will lead the team far this season.” Clearly the team has a brotherly bond that is shown in tournament when the first year Varsity players shave their head and the others bleach their hair.

The JV soccer team has recently suffered a terrible injury. Their starting outside wing, Joseph Gallivan, recently tore his ACL. He will be out for the rest of the season. This could hurt the team a lot this season. On the other hand, it will give others a chance to help the team. It will help other players get more minutes of playing time and maybe a new star will rise.

We are all excited to see how the team does this year and we hope for the best in tournament.
