As the season comes to a close and tournaments begin, Beavercreek’s softball team has an ending record of 15-10, winning against teams like Butler, Miamisburg, and Franklin. Starting the tournament strong, Beavercreek won on Monday against Sycamore with an ending score of 5-4. Raidyn Johnson, the head varsity coach for Beavercreek’s softball team, stated, “Beavercreek opened tournament play with a strong 5-4 victory over Sycamore, which was an important win and showed the team’s ability to stay composed in a competitive environment.” Due to a rain cancellation, though, the second round of the tournament has been rescheduled for today. Throughout the season, the players worked hard constantly and improved every day. Coach Johnson said, “Throughout the season, the players continued to improve, compete hard, and represent Beavercreek with grit, energy, and toughness.” As for the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) standings, Beavercreek is currently tied in fourth with Fairmont with a record of 8-6 for in conference games this season. With a record of 8-6, the Beavers won against teams including Fairmont, Wayne, and Springboro. Coach Johnson stated, “Some key wins this season included victories over Fairmont and Springboro, which showed the team’s ability to compete at a high level.” Beyond the results on the field, the team was also mentioned for having great chemistry. Coach Johnson said, “The players consistently supported one another, stayed resilient through adversity, and embraced the expectations that come with being part of Beavercreek softball.” This evening, the Beavers face Lakota East in the D1 district finals at four, so come out to Mason High School and support your team!
