Mark your calendars because on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Beavercreek City Schools will have a levy on the ballot. Mr. Otten, the Superintendent of Beavercreek City Schools, explained that “The levy is the renewal of a current levy that has been in place in the district for over the past 20 years. The levy provides $18.5 million dollars annually to the district for operating expenses.” Although it may not seem like it, a lot could potentially be at stake if this levy fails. The levy makes up 16 percent of the district’s total budget. If the district were to lose 16 percent of its budget, it would face significant reductions in services, staffing, and offerings that are provided to families and students. Should the levy fail, these reductions would need to be communicated and determined to the public. Additionally, Mr. Otten also stated, “…this levy has a 12.5 percent rollback from the State, which means that the State of Ohio picks up 12.5 percent of the total cost for our residents (similar to a coupon).” Starting on January 1, 2026, new legislation from the state has eliminated this rollback, so if the levy is not approved in December and the Board decides to run it again in May, the 12.5 percent rollback will not be included in the new levy. Some major points to also understand about this levy are that it has been in place for several years and will not impact taxes. Mr. Otten added, “Key points to understand are that this is an existing levy that has been in place for over 20 years. It will not increase taxes if passed. It has the 12.5% rollback from the State that will go away should the levy fail.” Go support your community’s school district and vote for this levy to pass on Tuesday!
