Students planning their schedules for next school year may notice that several classes will no longer be offered. According to a guidance counselor, the classes being removed from next year’s schedule are Journalism, Curriculum, Class Management, and Homemade Instant Repair. The guidance counselor explained that the classes were removed because there was not enough student interest this year. “There wasn’t enough interest in some classes,” said Mrs Duley. Although some students may be disappointed to see these electives disappear, the counselors clarified that the classes are not permanently canceled. “They get rotated every other year if the interest isn’t high enough,” the counselors explained. “They could just come back.” Class rotations are common in many schools, especially for electives that depend on student enrollment. If enough students show interest in future years, the classes may return to the schedule. Elective classes often give students opportunities to explore hobbies, career interests, and skills outside of core subjects. At this time, no new classes have been announced for next school year. Students are encouraged to meet with counselors to discuss their schedules and explore the electives that will still be available.
