As Christmas quickly approaches, students at BHS share how they celebrate the holiday season. Students at Beavercreek High School have multiple traditions, ranging from opening presents to traveling. Two students shared the tradition of baking, a wonderful way to spend time with family and get a sweet treat. Evelyn Vogel and Anne Fernando, both juniors at Beavercreek, said that every year they bake with their families to kick off the Christmas festivities. Vogel stated, “Around Christmas every year we make fudge,” and Fernando said, “We always make a love cake during the holiday”. Others around the school celebrate the day a bit differently, though. Sophia Kowalski, another junior at Beavercreek High School, stated, “On Christmas, we don’t leave the house.” Some families may do this to ensure they spend the whole day together, sharing joy, cheer, and love. Is there really any better way to celebrate the day than with family? Many houses also give gifts to each other. Brooklyne Allen, a junior at BHS, stated, “We always open up presents on Christmas.” This tradition has been observed around the world for years and is one of the most well-known parts of Christmas. Whether these presents are toys, clothes, or electronics, families wrap these gifts and place them under the tree. Juliana Nguyen, also a junior at Beavercreek, stated, “I always get money from my parents on Christmas.” Regardless of what the gift is, the thought behind it is what counts the most. Lastly, some may travel outside of Beavercreek to celebrate the holiday season. Meher Kaur, a junior at BHS, mentioned, “My family and I like to travel during the holiday.” Many students throughout Beavercreek High School welcome the holiday season differently, each with their own special tradition. As Christmas comes around the corner, share your traditions with someone new this year, or open yourself up to a new one!
