Prom is fast approaching the students at Beavercreek High School, bringing joy, stress, and excitement all at once. In a rush to prepare for prom, some students are juggling a thousand different activities at once, while others are relaxing since they’ve been preparing for months. A couple of students around BHS were asked when they started to plan for prom. Samantha Oxner, a junior at Beavercreek, stated, “I started preparing for prom back in January when I was looking for dresses. All of our plans for prom were made last week, though.” While other students, like juniors Madylin Labenski and Cameron Paddock, both said that they started preparing back in March. Some students, on the other hand, started preparing much later. Junior Morgan Drummond stated, “I started preparing for prom like today.” Despite all of the stress from running around to get things ready for Saturday, the students have said that preparing for prom has been an overall fun experience. Although Labenski did say that planning for prom in advance has definitely helped her be less stressed, “Planning for prom has been fun because I feel like I’ve been on top of it, so I feel like it hasn’t been stressful.” With prom being a day away, students were asked how prepared they feel on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the most prepared and one being the least. The answers that were given back were scattered across the scale, with Paddock and Drummond on the lower end, and Oxner and Labenski on the upper. Paddock stated, “About a three, because I only have my shoes, a dress, and a ticket.” While Oxner said, “Seven, because I haven’t gotten my nails yet and I haven’t decided on the shoes I’m going to wear yet or my hair.” Lots of students said that they wished they had started planning for prom sooner and scheduling their appointments earlier, rather than figuring things out along the way. So although many students felt the stress of prom this past week, the night itself made it all worth it. The students at Beavercreek were able to have a memorable prom night that they will never forget.
