The end of the year is fast approaching, which means there are lots of important decisions to begin thinking about for juniors at Beavercreek High School. These decisions begin with what students have done to prepare for their final year of high school and end with what they’re most looking forward to about becoming a senior. BHS junior Cameron Paddock stated, “I have done absolutely nothing to prepare for next year.” Similarly, junior Brooklyne Allen said, “I’m just having as much fun as possible.” Meanwhile, others are taking the task more seriously. BHS junior, Anne Fernando, stated, “I’m preparing by trying to work on managing my stress and also do better on being productive so I don’t procrastinate until the last minute.” While junior Evelyn Vogel also said, “I am starting to prepare for my last year of high school by figuring out what I want to do in the future and learning how to manage my time best.” It is all of these activities that, ultimately, lead to the topic of college. Junior year is an appropriate time to start planning for college, so students are not rushed in their senior year. Visiting colleges and interning in new fields are great ways for high school juniors to start planning their future. Many juniors at Beavercreek stated that they have begun researching different colleges and career paths to ensure they choose the best fit for them. Along with all of this planning comes the unavoidable stress that is associated with it. Paddock stated, “A part of senior year I’m stressed about is making sure I pass everything and have all of my credits/seals completed.” However, other students are more concerned about applying to colleges. Fernando said, “I would say preparing for things such as college essays and applications are a bit stressful and definitely are on my mind the most.” A couple of students are even more worried about their future after high school. Vogel stated, “The most stressful part of my last year is realizing that I’m going ot be an adult soon and need to learn how to do many things on my own. Even though it will be stressful, I’ve heard that senior year is the most fun, and I also have good classes, so I’m excited for those.” Meanwhile, Paddock mentioned, “I’m most excited to leave early next year and do more classes to help my career.” Senior year is fast approaching for the class of 2027 students, so even though that may sound a little stressful, remember to enjoy your last year in high school!
