Spring season has officially begun in Beavercreek, Ohio, and it’s safe to say that the students at BHS are enjoying the warmer weather that comes with it. With high temperatures in the 60s this past week and the upcoming 70s and 80s, students are enjoying the sunshine. A couple of students stated how this change in weather affects their overall mood. Mae Harrison, a senior at Beavercreek, stated, “The warmer weather makes me be more positive because I can go on hikes and enjoy the outdoors.” She also added how this weather makes her feel more compelled to do activities: “This weather makes me feel more motivated because the nicer weather makes me feel more motivated to go outside and do things, but cold weather makes me more likely to snuggle up under a blanket.” Similarly, Evelyn Vogel, a junior at BHS, stated, “The warmer weather makes me happier because I like it when it’s warm outside, because it means it’s closer to summer.” Vogel also said, “Warmer weather makes me feel more motivated because when I feel more energized, I am able to stay focused and get a lot done.” In contrast, juniors Cameron Paddock and Brooklyne Allen both agreed that the warmer weather makes them feel more inspired to do things because it makes them feel more energized and happy. Spring weather obviously brings a light to Beavercreek High School, making the students joyful and hopeful for the upcoming summer. With saying this, though, it is unfortunately still April, meaning there is a month and a half left of school. So, does the warmer weather make the schoolwork assigned to students easier? The simple answer is “No.” Harrison stated, “Nicer weather makes it harder to focus on school because I don’t want to spend time indoors doing homework. I want to spend it outdoors hiking.” Similarly, Vogel mentioned, “School is much harder to focus on when it is nice outside because I want to be outside and doing other things, and school work prevents me from doing that.” So although this warmer weather has been a blessing, it has made students’ jobs at school a little bit harder. This week, the weather will be reaching a high of 80, so go outside and spend time in the fresh air, but don’t forget to finish your schoolwork first!
