It is officially the final week of quarter three, and students at BHS are certainly feeling the pressure that comes with it. Between balancing deadlines and struggling to increase grades by Thursday, students are feeling the weight of the stress. A couple of students shared what this last week of the quarter looks like for them. Samantha Oxner, a junior at Beavercreek, stated that the source of most of her anxiety is “My classes because I feel like I’m getting more work and it’s bad timing with the start of lacrosse season.” While another junior at BHS, Evelyn Vogel, said, “The tests I have because there’s a lot of studying I have to do in a short amount of time.” Others are more concerned about their grades. Morgan Drummond, who’s also a junior at Beavercreek, stated, “Getting my grades up by the end of the week because I’ve been absent and have a lot of makeup work.” With all of this stress, students must know how to cope with it. A couple of students shared how they manage all of the anxiety and deadlines piling up this week. Oxner stated, “By prioritizing the things I care about and the quarterly classes and putting the rest on the back burner.” While others are turning to organizational techniques. Drummond mentioned, “My planner has been my best friend, and to-do lists have been too.” Lastly, Vogel prioritizes sleep, saying, “I go to bed early and get as much as I can done, and try not to stress about it.” With the conclusion of the third quarter, students are also reflecting on the way their quarters went. When questioned if this quarter has been the hardest compared to the last two, every student undoubtedly answered “yes.” Oxner stated, “100% because I’m still getting acclimated to some of my classes and they just decided to throw a bunch of work at us.” Drummond and Vogel both agreed with that statement and similarly said that in quarter three, classes get more difficult, and a lot of work is thrown at students. Lastly, they all shared what has been the most difficult part of quarter three. Vogel stated, “Staying motivated because I don’t like winter and they give so much work in quarter three.” Similarly, Drummond said, “Lack of motivation because it’s quarter three.” While Oxner answered, “Scheduling because it freaks me out having to figure out my future this far in advance.” Now that quarter three is over, it is safe to say that many students are relieved and ready to move on.
